Frequently Asked Questions

Before you consign, shop, or visit.

Our FAQ is designed to make the process clear. We only accept authenticated luxury handbags and accessories that meet our intake, condition, documentation, and market standards.

01 Handbag Authentication

Every handbag must earn its place.

Every handbag that enters our collection must earn its place. Before any item is accepted for consignment, listed, priced, or offered for sale, it is carefully reviewed for authenticity, condition, documentation, brand strength, resale value, and current market demand.

Lost & Found Resale Handbags only accepts luxury handbags and accessories that can be authenticated. Our process is selective, market driven, and designed to protect consignors, buyers, and our resale program.

Our authentication process combines experienced human review with our proprietary AI-assisted image analysis. This layered approach helps us evaluate the details that matter most, including logos, stitching, hardware, leather texture, interior markings, serial numbers, date codes, authenticity chips, craftsmanship, and overall consistency with the brand.

01

Proprietary AI-Assisted Review

Our proprietary AI-assisted review helps evaluate the visual details that matter most, including stitching, hardware, logos, stamps, leather texture, interior markings, serial numbers, date codes, authenticity chips, and other brand-specific identifiers.

02

Multi-Angle Photo Review

We review clear, detailed photos of the front, back, interior, hardware, corners, handles, straps, edges, and identifying marks to evaluate condition, construction, consistency, and overall presentation.

03

Human-Guided Authentication

Our experienced human review interprets the details, confirms consistency, and identifies anything that requires closer inspection. Technology supports the process, but final review is never left to software alone.

04

Documentation Review

Proof of purchase is requested whenever available. This may include receipts, boutique cards, order confirmations, purchase history, authenticity cards, original packaging, dust bags, boxes, straps, pouches, and other supporting documentation.

05

Final Intake Approval

If proof of purchase is not available, your item may be reviewed through our proprietary AI-enhanced authentication process for a $25 fee per handbag. Items that cannot be confidently authenticated do not move forward. Submitting an item does not guarantee acceptance.

While our full authentication process is proprietary, we are happy to share general insight into the standards we use to evaluate each handbag.

If a handbag cannot be confidently authenticated, it does not move forward.
No listing. No sale. No exception.

For buyers and consignors, this creates a higher standard of confidence, transparency, and trust.

02 Certificate of Authentication

Authentication documentation for peace of mind.

Select handbags may include a Lost & Found Resale Handbags Certificate of Authentication documenting our internal authentication review and item details.

Our certificate is part of our proprietary review process and is designed to provide buyers and consignors with additional confidence, transparency, and documentation.

No brand or manufacturer endorses this evaluation. Our review is independently completed by Lost & Found Resale Handbags using human-guided review supported by proprietary AI-assisted analysis.

03 Shipping Handbag(s), Accessories, and Jewelry

Shipping is calculated before checkout is completed.

Shipping is calculated automatically at checkout based on several factors, including the item, package size, weight, destination, shipping carrier, handling needs, and applicable insurance.

Because every handbag, accessory, or jewelry piece may require different packaging and protection, final shipping costs are shown before payment is completed.

If you have specific delivery needs, questions about insurance, or require additional information about shipping options, our team is happy to assist before your purchase is completed.

04 How Do I Consign My Handbag?

Start with the submission process.

To begin, please complete the handbag consignment submission process. This allows our team to review your photos, item details, proof when available, and overall fit before intake.

You may submit up to 6 handbags or accessories at one time, with a maximum of 30 photos total per submission. There is no per-item photo cap, but the full submission cannot exceed 30 photos.

Please include clear photos of

  • Front and back
  • Interior
  • Hardware, logo, zipper pulls, lock, key, chain, or strap details
  • Serial number, date code, authenticity chip, or authenticity card when available
  • Corners, handles, straps, edges, and visible wear
  • Included accessories such as dust bag, box, strap, receipt, pouch, or boutique card

Intake information may include

  • Valid government-issued ID, such as a Driver’s License or Passport
  • Proof of purchase when available, such as a receipt, boutique card, order confirmation, purchase history, or original packaging
  • Current contact information for intake records and consignment communication
  • Additional photos or information if something requires closer review

Before any handbag is accepted, our team reviews the submission for brand, condition, market demand, documentation, resale potential, and authentication eligibility.

We are generally looking for authenticated luxury handbags and accessories in excellent, very good, or carefully maintained condition, with an original retail value of $1,000 USD or higher.

To comply with intake and City of Scottsdale requirements, consignors must provide a valid Driver’s License or Passport.

Once your photos and information are received, our team will review your submission and let you know if the item appears eligible for intake. We typically follow up within 1–2 business days.

Please do not bring items in without completing the submission process first. Pre-review helps us avoid unnecessary trips, reduce back-and-forth, and focus time on pieces that are a strong fit for resale.

01

Submit

Submit clear photos, item details, and proof when available.

02

Review

We review brand, condition, market demand, documentation, and authentication eligibility.

03

Intake

If it appears to be a fit, we contact you with next steps.

04

List

If approved, your item is photographed, priced, listed, and marketed.

When you drop off your handbag, we will create an intake record for the item, provide a receipt documenting the item or items left in our possession, secure the handbag while it moves through authentication and review, and complete our authentication process before the item is priced, listed, or offered for sale.

After authentication is complete, we evaluate pricing based on brand, condition, demand, comparable sales, and current market value.

If approved for consignment, we will prepare your consignment agreement for review and signature. Once complete, your handbag will be professionally photographed and listed across our selling platforms.

Our standard consignment split is 50/50 for most luxury handbags and accessories. Items with an original retail price of $5,000 or more may qualify for an elevated 65 percent consignor split, based on brand, condition, authenticity, current market demand, and resale positioning.

For clients who prefer an immediate payout rather than consignment, we may offer a buy-out option for select luxury handbags and accessories. Buy-out eligibility and pricing are evaluated item by item and begin with the same photo submission process used for consignment.

Payment is issued only after the item has been physically inspected and fully validated.

Every handbag must meet our standards before it moves forward.
No guesswork. No shortcuts. No exceptions. Submitting an item does not guarantee acceptance.
05 Handbags During Open Hours

Every handbag is shown with care and intention.

Every handbag in our showroom is protected with the same care and intention we bring to authentication. For the safety of our clients, consignors, and inventory, select handbags are displayed in locked cases and shown with staff assistance.

Guests may be asked to present a valid government-issued ID before viewing or handling certain handbags. This helps us protect high-value pieces, maintain accurate security records, and create a comfortable viewing experience for everyone.

When a handbag is requested, a team member will remove it from the case and assist throughout the viewing process. Handbags may be handled only inside the showroom and under staff supervision.

Some rare, high-value, or limited-edition pieces may not be available for standard showroom viewing and may require a private appointment or special arrangement.

Our showroom is supported by monitored display cases, controlled handling procedures, restricted access points, and security systems designed to protect every piece in our care.

If you would like to arrange a private viewing or inquire about rare or restricted items, our team will be happy to assist during showroom hours.

06 Item Security

Protected with intention, accountability, and respect.

Lost & Found Resale maintains a multi-layer security process designed for high-value luxury goods.

Our facility is equipped with security cameras, monitored alarm systems, controlled-access storage, locked display cases, documented intake records, and internal handling procedures designed to protect every handbag, accessory, and jewelry piece in our care.

During store hours, select high-value items remain in locked and monitored cases and are accessible only with staff assistance. Items not actively being shown are kept secured according to our internal handling standards.

Our daily security procedures include

  • Controlled access to handbags and high-value items
  • Locked display cases for select pieces during showroom hours
  • Secure storage for items not actively being shown
  • Documented intake records and item tracking

Additional safeguards

  • Monitored showroom procedures designed to maintain item safety
  • Routine security checks to help protect the showroom and inventory
  • Additional handling procedures for rare, limited-edition, or exceptionally high-value items
  • Private viewing arrangements or restricted display access when needed

These standards help us maintain clear chain of custody, protect consignor property, and give buyers confidence that every piece has been handled responsibly.

While the full details of our security process remain proprietary, our standard is simple: every item in our care is protected with intention, accountability, and respect.
